Mangalore, Aug 21: The local unit of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), will celebrate Sri Krishna Janmashtami at the Devadiga Samaj Bhavan, located in Mannagudda here, on Sunday, August 24.

Speaking to media persons on Thursday, August 21, Karunya Sagar Dasa, chief of ISKCON, Mangalore, said that 'abhisheka', harekrishna japa yajna', 'alankara pooja' for Sri Krishna will be conducted with devotional fervour. 'Maha abhishekam', which has become popular over the past few years, will be held at 9.00 p m on Sunday. The 'maha mangala arati' will be held at noon, he added.

District commissioner (DC) M Maheshwar Rao, New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) chairman Tamilvannan and Mangalore airport director M R Vasudev, are expected to attend the programme. The children’s yakshagana troupe of Manjanady sponsored by  Sri Durgaparameshwari will stage ‘Krishna Leela' at 6.00 pm.

The grand celebrations of 'nandotsava',  will be held on Monday, August 25, at Arya Samaj Road, he informed. Local ISKCON conveners Pankajanghri Dasa, and Sanandana Dasa , were present at the press meet.
