Udupi, Aug 22: The gram sabha of all villages that come under the limits of Padubidri gram panchayat (GP) was held on Thursday, August 21 at Bunts Bhavan, Padubidri. Padubidri GP secretary, Mamata Shetty, presented the budget and the resolutions of the last meeting.

The residents of Padebettu, which comes under Padubidri GP, stated that they were not informed of the ward level meeting held in their locality recently. When GP president Sumitra Devadiga and secretary Mamata Shetty failed to reply satisfactorily, everyone boycotted the meeting. Despite repeated urging by the GP president and secretary, they refused to return to their seats.

The residents urged the local governing body to hold ward-level meetings so as to note their opinions on the need for development works. Zilla panchayat member Shashikant, GP president Sumitra Devadiga, GP vice-president Mithun R Hegde, and various department officers were present at the meeting.
