Mangalore: Kadri Police Arrest Car Stereo Thief; Seize 14 Stolen Stereos

Mangalore, Aug 22: Kadri police have nabbed a car-stereo thief, on Thursday, August 21. The arrested has been identified as Dinesh Poojary (34), a resident of Akash Bhavan, in the city.

Acting upon a sure tip-off, Kadri crime police headed by sub-inspector Aitappa P, arrested Poojary at Sharbathkatte in Yeyyady - Padavu. He was accosted by the police when he was taking the stolen stereos for sale on his two-wheeler.

The police have seized a total of 14 stereos and LCD monitors worth Rs 1.45 lac. The accused has confessed to have stolen the stereos from the A J Shetty hospital complex, Kottara, Urwa store, Felix Pai bazar, Ganapathi high school, Kalikamba, Mallikatte, Tejaswini hospital, Bhoj Rao lane, and elsewhere in the city. He stole the stereos and LCDs by breaking open the windows of automobiles, said the police.

Assistant sub-inspector K Vishwanath, constables Karunakar Gowda, S Kumaresh, Mahammad, Prakash, Siddarth, and Lawrence were among those involved in this operation.
