Udupi: Bus-Omni Accident : Five Injured

Udupi, Sep 9: Five people travelling in a Maruti Omni vehicle were injured, after their vehicle hit a private bus from behind, at Katpady Moodbettu in the afternoon of Sunday September 7.

The private bus, going towards Karkala from Udupi, came to a sudden halt at Katpady Moodbettu stop and the Omni, moving towards Kaup from Perdoor, hit the bus from behind. Its driver Mallar Angadimane Umesh Shetty(38), his wife Vanita(32), mother-in-law Vanaja(65) and other two women, Poornima(28) and Usha Devadiga were injured.

The locals opened the doors of the manled Omni and brought out the injured travellers, and admitted them to a hospital. The highway traffic was affected due to the accident, for some time. Kaup police have registered a case.

    It is the irresponsible driving and scant respect for the traffic rules/guidelines which results in such accidents. Such accidents can be avoided if the police authorities takes stringent action against the erring man at the steering.
