Udupi: Bantara Sangh Awards Scholarship to 480 Deserving Students

Udupi, Sep 14: Scholarships were distributed to students of Bunt community in a function held on Saturday September 13. The event was jointly organized by Dakshina Kannada (DK) Bantara Yane Nadavara Matra Sangh and district Bantara Sangh, at Ammanni Ramanna auditorium.

Scholarships amounting to Rs 2.5 lac were distributed to 480 deserving students. Students who availed financial assistance from the organizations last year, and secured high marks in the public examinations, were also honoured on the occasion. V Vijayakumar Shetty, chief planning officer, zilla panchayat (ZP), speaking on the occasion, urged students to excel in studies and contribute their mite to the nation.

In a changed national scenario, human resources development is not calculated only on the basis of per capita income, but also the grade of education and the health of the person.  Hence, education is essential for human resources development, he emphasized.

K Amarnath Shetty, president, DK Bantara Yane Nadavara Matra Sangh, presided over the programme. Entrepreneur Purushottam Shetty, and Vasudev Shetty, managing partner, Deviprasad Constructions, were also present.

Student scholarship committee secretary Jayakar Shetty Indrali, Sangh honorary president Tallur Shivaram Shetty, secretary Mohan Shetty, Suresh Shetty, Sudarshan Shetty, and Sheela K Shetty, were present on the dais. Matra Sangh vice-president Ravindranath Hegde delivered the keynote address while Halady Satish Shetty compered the programme.
