Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Sep 17: It is learnt that the central office of the shipping company located in London, for which sailor Jeevan Kiran D'Souza works, has informed his family that all the employees who are working on the ship which was abducted by pirates off Somalia coast on August 21 including Jeevan, will be released shortly.

This information was collected by Wilson D'Souza, elder brother of Jeevan working in Kuwait, during his telephonic conversation with the shipping company. As the government as well as various quarters have been exerting pressure for the release of the seamen at the earliest, there is hope of their release within the next five to six days, the company stated. The discussions are on and the negotiations for his release are being held secretly, he was informed.

As the pirates have snatched away the mobiles and laptops of the arrested seamen, communication with them directly has been rendered impossible. Telephonic communications with the ship were severed since September 8, it has been revealed.

In the meanwhile, the family of Jeevan was informed by the ship contractor's office in Mumbai, that Jeevan is safe.
