Mangalore: Mob Gathers at Chembugudde Following Stone Pelting at Bus

Mangalore, Sep 17: A mob gathered in Chembugudde, near Tokkottu on Wednesday September 17 evening after miscreants pelted stones at a  bus on National Highway 17.
The incident occurred in Kallaup and bus services on this route, stopped immediately thereafter.

Police had to resort to light caning to clear the mob. Security has been tightened around Tokkottu to control the situation. Other than the Kallaup incident, Mangalore taluk was peaceful on Wednesday despite the underlying tension.

One person was injured in the stone pelting and he has been hospitalized. The bus involved was plying towards Mangalore University. Later, the miscreants also pelted stones at a bus in Chembugudde, but no one was injured..

Meanwhile, sources informed that the district court released on bail 25 of those arrested  in connection with violence in churches. The Diocesan Lawyers’ Catholic Guild is continuing its efforts to get free jailed community members. Eighty more people are said to be still in prison.
