Udupi: Jamat–Islami–Hind Organizes 'Souharda Iftar' at Kaup

Udupi, Sep 19: The Kaup unit of Jamat–Islami- Hind organized a 'Souharda Iftar' meet at Jaffer Tower, Kaup, near here recently. The programme was presided over by the organization's divisional convener Moulvi Abdul Salam U.

Speaking on the occasion, Moulvi Abdul Salam U said that fasting during Ramzan brings  spiritual bliss, rids evil, instills discipline, and assures eternal life for the penance done on earth. Islam advocates peace while the holy Quran exhorts living by the Prophet’s teachings.  The community should make an attempt to learn the finer points of the holy book.


Alban Rodrigues, principal , Dandateerta group of education institutes, said that Muslims are striving for peace and harmony in the society by organizing such a meet. Former Lions Club governor Suresh Shetty was the chief guest of the occasion.

Afeez Moulana Pervez Alam recited the verses from the Quran. U Anwar Ali, zonal president, Jamat–Islami–Hind, Kaup welcomed the gathering while Shafi Ahmed proposed the vote of thanks. The Souharda Iftar meet was attended by people of various faiths, religion, and political affiliations.
