Kundapur: Private Bus Turns Turtle Injuring 35 near Basrur

Kundapur, Sep 19: After the driver of a private bus moving from Siddapur to the town lost control over it at Margoli near Basrur on Thursday September 18, the bus overturned, injuring 35 people. Eight persons including the bus driver were grievously injured.

It is said that the driver was trying to overtake another vehicle when the bus overstepped the right edge of the road and overturned, after hitting the electric poles. The bus was badly mangled in the accident and the injured were admitted to two private hospitals here. Vasudev Rao (65) who suffered critical injuries was shifted to Manipal hospital. Seriously injured bus driver, identified as Abdul Mallik Bhatkal (45) is being treated in a private hospital here.

The traffic on the state highway came to a standstill for about two hours after the accident.
