Udupi: District Level Rural and Dasara Sports Meet

Udupi, Sep 20: A two-day district level rural and Dasara sports meet is being organized at the Ajjarkad Mahatma Gandhi District Stadium here on Friday September 19 and Saturday September 20, under the joint aegis of Udupi zilla panchayat(ZP) youth services and sports department and Karnataka Sports Authority.



The sports meet was inaugurated today by the municipal president Dinkar Shetty. On the occasion, 10 distrist level sports awards were given away to Padmanabha Bandi Perdoor, Raviraj Perdoor, Deepika Shetty Ampar, Geeta Uppoor, Akshata Uppoor, Asha Matpady, Soumya Kantvar, Surekha Kantavar, Supreeta Katpady and Mohammed Zakaria Karkala. The awards were conferred by the ZP chief executive officer Prasanna Kumar.

District deputy director of public instruction K Anand, ZP deputy secretary Pranesh Rao, taluk physical education officer Vittal Shetty, Yuvajana Okkoota president Manohar Kunder, Kundapur assistant sports officer Dayanand Hegde and sports patron Jayaprakash were present.

Youth services and sports department assistant director C B Rangaiah delivered the welcome address. Prem Kumar conducted the programme. Assistant sports officer from Karkala Ganapaiah proposed vote of thanks.
