Udupi: Hindu Yuva Sene Demands Setting up of Majority Commission

Udupi, Sep 22: The district unit of Hindu Yuva Sene has urged the state as well the central governments to set up a commission meant for the protection of the rights of majority Hindus in the country, on the lines of the minority commission.

Placing this proposal in front of a press conference held here on Sunday September 21, district general secretary of the Sene Vasudev Bhat charged various commissions and political parties of having undertaken fact-finding missions of the twin districts on the pretext of attacks on Christian prayer centres, for selfish motives.

A large contingent of opposition leaders has visited the twin districts. Rather than trying to find a lasting solution to the problem, their only purpose has been to project themselves as the saviours of the minorities, he felt.

"How many times has the central government provided solace when the Hindu temples and societies were targeted by miscreants? How many political leaders visited the troubles people? In the country, majority people are at risk. They should be protected," he urged.

Hindus are frustrated and troubled by terrorism, cow-slaughter, religious conversions etc. A commission is required to be formed to solve their pains and tribulations, Bhat insisted. He strongly criticized various political parties for trying to encash the opportunity and fishing in troubled waters.

If the government is unable to set up the Majority Commission, it has to dismantle the minority commission and ensure that a common civil code of conduct is enforced in the country. This will stop appeasement and ensure peace in the society, he felt.

District president of the organization Harish Ram, district organizing secretary Sudhakar Mallya, municipal councillor Yashpal Suvarna and several others were present at the press conference.
