Mangalore : Police Arrest Four in Connection with Efforts to Sell Spurious Gold

Mangalore, Sep 23: Four persons hailing from Davangere were arrested by the Ullal police on Sunday September 21, on charges of trying to sell spurious gold. They were nabbed from Kotekar Beeri near here.

It is learnt, that a person named Ashok Rai was speaking to his friends, when four people approached him, claiming that they had fumbled on a treasure of golden pieces and that they were prepared to sell them at reasonable prices. Growing suspicious, Rai contacted the Ullal police station.

The arrested persons have been identified as Maruti(21), Raju(25), Kumar(22) and Pradeep(20), all from Nittolli near Davanagere. A car and two and half kilograms of spurious gold were seized from the arrested persons. Ullal police have registered a case and investigations are on.
