Udupi, Sep 23: Madhav Pai Memorial College, Manipal, has been awarded a NAAC rating recently, informed Prof Dayanand Shetty, principal of the college, at a press conference on Monday September 22.

The college, set up by Ramesh U Pai in 1999, is affiliated to Mangalore University. The  NAAC team arrived at the institution on August 4 for a two-day evaluation of available  facilities. They gathered relevant information from the college administration, principal, lecturer, non-teaching staff, students and their parents, and alumni, said Prof Shetty.

A NAAC rating enables the college to avail financial assistance from Union Grants Commission (UGC) and the administration has plans to improve hostel accommodation, extend the play ground, set up an additional library, laboratories, and bring in more sports equipment, he said. Prof Prakash, commerce lecturer of the college, was also present at the press conference.
