Bantwal, Sep 27: Attacks on churches in the district are yet to stop and the latest incident involves stone pelting in Shambhur parish near here, on Friday September 26.

Miscreants damaged the grotto of Sacred Heart Church by breaking its glass, by throwing stones at it. Sources said that the incident occurred on Friday afternoon. The idol of Mother Mary, placed in front of the grotto, has not been damaged in the incident.

Devotees who came to the church to attend the evening mass noticed the damage and Bantwal rural police were immediately called in. A case has been filed in this regard.  Two constables have been deployed in front the church after the incident came to light .

I know this group who has done this shameful act. There are only 60 families for the parish of shamboor and locals are very well mixed with Christians in shamboor. A recent trend has started with young boys with age group of 19-22 who are involved in setting fire to the forest, blocking roads at night and causing damage to the public property.

The intentions are to become famous with fewer efforts. And they are provoked by the recent attacks in Mangalore and want to become famous lieutenants for their superiors in politics. As per my recent telephone calls to shamboor,a boy has been arrested last night.

They are supported well by BJP leaders and pose themselves as goondas. I really missed an accident while was driving at night as big rock stones were kept on the middle of the road near my house. This was an incident of July 2008.Its is not out of any enemity but to show the presence that they are something in this village.

They will realize the meaning of Goonda only if they are booked under the Karnataka Goonda act. The result is that, the police have to be stationed at the church for few days and this is waste of state machinery just because a couple youngsters cannot sleep without disturbing harmony in the society.

Dear Mr.CM Yediurappa Still you are not able to control attacks on churches irrespective of any person, kindly arrest them and put them behind the bars.Where is your law and order.Definitely one or other day you are answerable to this. This is not the way of rulling the state in democracy.
