Mangalore: City DREU Branch Inaugurated Near Railway Station

Mangalore, Sep 27: The city branch of Dakshin Railway Employees’ Union (DREU), affiliated to CITU, was inaugurated near the railway station on Friday September 26.

S Janakiraman, general secretary, DREU, hoisted the flag and inaugurated the office.

K Ashokan, zonal vice-president, DREU, Mathew Siriac, divisional secretary, Umapati, central leader, Mehaboob Ali, divisional vice-president, assistant divisional secretaries K K Sivasankaran and P Suresh, CITU district leaders Sukumar, and Dayanand Shetty, Shyam, DYFI leader, Balagopalan, leader,All India Station Masters’ Association, James, zonal secretary, All India Loco Running Staff Association, and Dharmasena, general secretary, BMS All India, were present on the occasion.



DREU was formed in 1918 in Tamil Nadu and the railway employees participated in the freedom struggle under the leadership of this union. About 750 railway employees are  registered under DREU. Southern Railway accorded recognition to DREU on December 3, 2007.
