Udupi: World Tourism Day Celebrations Held at Sri Krishna Math

Sri Sugunendrateerta Swami of Paryaya Puttige Math inaugurated World Tourism Day at the Rajangan, on Friday September 26. The event was jointly organized by Puttige Math, the tourism department, and Kannada and culture department, in association with Apna Holidays.
 
Swami Sugunendrateerta said that city of Sri Krishna has been a tourist hotspot and the coastal district has lots of tourism potential that is still undeveloped. Neighbouring state Kerala, earns substantial amount of revenue throughout the year as tourism is well-developed there, said the Swamiji.  Karnataka also has the potential to become a major tourist destination as it has pristine beaches where water sports could be promoted.
 
District Kannada Sahitya Parishat president  Ambatanaya Mudrady, district coastal tourism president Janardhan Maravante, RTO Omkareshwari, Apna Holidays director Manjula Nagaraj, district taximen’s association secretary Ramesh Kotian, and Madhukar Mudrady of Madhuri Travels were present on the dais.
 
Tourism department assistant director Shivalingappa welcomed the gathering.  Ganesh Gangolli copered the programme while Sudhir proposed the vote of thanks. A drawing competition on the theme of tourism was also held for primary and high school students.
