Puttur: Death of Workers - Neerakatte Hydel Power Project Engineer Arrested

Puttur, Sep 27: In connection with the tragedy in which six workers met watery grave after the vented dam of Sagar Power Project, which was under construction at Neerakatte near here breached on August 13 this year, the Uppinangady police have arrested the engineer of the company on the night of Thursday September 25 and booked him for negligence.

The arrested person has been identified as Penchalaiah from Pottampad Korandalam of Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh. Projct worker Venkateshulu had, in a complaint filed with the Uppinangady police on the day of the mishap, stated that the negligence of Penchalaiah was responsible for the tragedy.

The police produced the engineer in Puttur court on Friday September 26.
