Mangalore, Sep 27: Pilikula Nisargadhama has become the centre of attraction with the addition of two elephants. One of them reached Pilikula on Saturday September 27 while the other will arrive on Sunday September 28. The elephants have been named ‘Durga’ and ‘Mayura’.

A small zoo was opened here in 2001 which now houses nearly 200 animals from 75 species. Pilikula zoo has been recognized as a medium-level zoo by the Central Zoo Authority. Officials here plan to upgrade it to a large zoo soon.

Meanwhile, two more small elephants will be added here in a few weeks. The authorities also plan to construct an insect museum and aquarium here.

It is a great addition to Zoo. This will certainly increase number of visitors and give new dimension to tourism in South Kanara. Keep up the good work.
