Bengaluru, Oct 30: Disapproving the allegations made by Siddaramaiah, Karnataka chief minister, B S Yediyurappa claimed that the former CM was misleading people affected by the flood.

Reportedly, Siddaramaiah stated that the BJP government in Karnataka has failed to give flood relief to people even after three months of the disaster taking place. Responding to the statements, Yediyurappa slammed Siddaramaiah for spreading lies.

Yediyurappa asserted that over 1.12 lac people received Rs 10,000. He stated that over 14,000 people who lost their homes in the deluge had already received Rs 1 lac as the first instalment of Rs 5 lac. The state has given Rs 50,000 to 20,000 beneficiaries whose houses were partially damaged. The government had already begun the process to compensate the farmers who lost their crops in the floods.

Earlier in the year, Siddaramaiah alleged, "Three months have passed ever since the floods hit the state. There is no government. It is now completely dead." Further, he went on to say that only a handful of people received Rs 10,000.

He questioned how the government would conduct the assembly session without given compensation to the flood-hit people.

When asked why Jagadish Shettar was silent on flood relief, Siddaramaiah said, "Shettar is hurt that he was not even made the deputy chief minister though he was a chief minister in the past. His pain is aggravated when Laxman Savadi is made deputy chief minister despite losing the assembly election."

"If Shettar has grievances, fight with the high command but at least hear the plight of people. When you have taken up a responsibility fulfill it sincerely or else resign from your post," he added.
