Mangaluru: Two arrested for abusing, obstructing on-duty police personnel

Mangaluru, Nov 3: Police have arrested two people for using abusive language and preventing from carrying out duty against police personnel of Padubidri police station, who was on night patrolling duty, along with two other home guards at Karkala junction on the night of November 1.

Prashant Suvarna (34), a resident of Padupanamboor Hoigegudde Suvarana Moolasthana and Ajay Kumar (31), a resident of Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh are the culprits who are arrested for allegedly using abusive language and obstructing Shashi Kumar, police personnel of Padubidri police station.

The accused approached the junction at midnight by walking from Udupi end, where the policeman and two home guards were on night patrolling duty. When police questioned them as to their destination, both arrogantly replied "We will go anywhere we want. Why we should disclose the same to you?" When the police personnel further asked their name and address, they denied disclosing the details. Besides, they started abusing the police and also tried to escape by pushing the traffic barricades that were kept on the road.

The police personnel, with the help of home guards arrested both the persons immediately. A case in this regard is registered in the police station and the accused are produced in the court.
