Bantwal, Apr 4: As a person in Thumbe is found to be infected by coronavirus, nearly 520 houses in three areas of the village here are under quarantine. Nearly 3,000 people staying in Madaka, Bollari and Thumbe junction are asked not to come out from their houses. Nakabandi is enforced from 12 pm in several places and roads are closed so that nobody comes to the village. The people who were staying with the infected person have been shifted to somewhere else under special attention.
A team of officials in the leadership of tahsildar Rashmi S R visited the village and advised necessary precautions. Police personnel were warning through loud speakers that nobody should come out of their houses. Police officials and health officials have approached village heads and held discussions over future course of action.

“As infection of a person from Thumbe village is confirmed, more than 500 houses in the vicinity are quarantined. Villagers should cooperate with officials and Asha workers,” said MLA U T Khader.
“Asha workers will conduct visits from April 5. We should realize that they are coming with our health in mind. Therefore, we should cooperate without troubling them. Those who were with the infected person should voluntarily inform the health department. Necessary items of daily use will be delivered to the houses under quarantine,” he said.
“All the villagers should maintain social distance. Village residents have already assured of complete cooperation,” said the MLA.
