Udupi, Nov 17: “MLA Akhanda Srinivasamurthy is our leader. Entire Congress party is with him. He urging to take action against the guilty is right. But it is not right to target the opposition party due to political motivation,” said KPCC working president Saleem Ahmed in Udupi.

Answering to the questions of reporters in a programme held by district Congress on Tuesday, he said that the arrest of Sampat Raj is politically motivated. Police should maintain law and order. We do not oppose the investigations but the investigations should not be for political purposes,” he said.

“BJP government in the state is targeting Congress leaders. BJP leaders make statements before the police. Are they policing officials or law ministers? More than 100 people are arrested in DJ Halli and KG Halli cases. The incident has happened due to police failure. Several innocent people are arrested in connection with the incident,” he said.

“The governments at the centre and the state have failed to maintain the welfare of farmers. Land reforms Act is against the farmers and is like death penalty against them. The state government has failed with regard to corona. We have said that the government is corrupt in Vidhan Sabha and Vidhan Parishad. There were scams in purchase of PPE kits and Rs 2,000 crores in other things,” he said.
