Udupi: Muniyal Ayurveda receives seven patents for researched products

Udupi, Nov 19: Muniyal Ayurveda has received patents from America’s director of patent and trademark office for the next twenty years for their six Ayurvedic medicines and one treatment procedure researched by Muniyal Ayurveda president, Dr M Vijayabhanu Shetty.

The medicines are Hartogen tablets that can prevent heart attack at the gene level, Insol N tablets that reproduce Insulin, controlling diabetes and protecting primary organs of the body, Herbotrim tablets that control lipid, cholesterol and fat, Munibiotic plus tablets that prevent bacteria and virus, Munex tablets that are effectively used in nearly 80 varieties of cancer, particularly lung cancer and Mahoshadha Kalpa Cancer treatment method. Patents for Munex, Insol N and Hartogen tablets are being considered in Japan and Europe.

Articles relating to the medicines are published in international medical journals. “This is an effort to resolve the propaganda that Ayurveda does not have scientific backing,” said Dr M Vijayabhanu Shetty.

Muniyal Ayurveda has been functioning for the last three generations. It offers degrees, postgraduate degrees and PhD in its organization. It has opened Yoga and Naturopathy degree courses, research centre, medicine manufacturing unit, hospital and clinic this year. It has a valuable library inaugurated by the former president of India, Dr Abdul Kalam.
