Mangaluru, Nov 20: In two different incidents, gold chains were snatched away from the necks of two women. The thieves made good their escape with golden ornaments worth Rs 2.34 lac. A complaint was registered in Kavoor and Kadri police stations in this respect.

Rashmi, a resident of Urundadigudde in Panjimogaru was walking home after her work hours at the Honda showroom in Shantinagara when an unidentified person followed her in a motorbike. She got scared and called her mother. Over phone The youth suddenly came close to her from behind and yanked away a 22 gram golden Karimani chain valued at Rs 80,000. The incident happened between 6.50 pm and 7 pm. A complaint about this incident was filed in Kavoor police station.

In the other incident, Geetha from Vyasanagara was returning home at around 6.20 pm on Wednesday after visiting a relative living at Kadri. When she was walking by the side of RTO ground near KPT when returning home, a person who was posing like repairing a motorbike that he had parked by the roadside suddenly came from behind after she crossed him, and snatched away a 13 gram Karimani chain valued at about Rs 54,000 . Along with the Karimani chain, a Pakala chain weighing 26 grams worth one lac rupees was also taken away.
