Mangaluru, Nov 20: A webinar on the history of the Mangalurean Christian Community is scheduled on Saturday November 21 at 5.00 pm.

Prominent personalities like Maxwell Pereira (retired IPS and author), Dr Mona Mendonca (history lecturer and freelance researcher), Desmond Nazareth (managing director, Agave India) will be the panelists at the webinar. The webinar will also include Michael Lobo (author and historian) and Alan Machado Prabhu (author and historian) as experts. The session will be moderated by Vijay Moras and Keith Tauro. The notable speakers will discuss the genealogy of the Mangalorean Catholic community and educate the attendees on the history of the community.

The webinar is intended to throw light on the history of the Christian community in Mangaluru that is not well known, even among its own constituents. It is a history of uprooting, values, hard work, and incredible sacrifices from ancestors that parents, peers and children know very little about today.

The panelists and experts would discuss the community’s genesis in Goa, the migration to South Canara, the subsequent exile, return to South Canara, cultural influences on the community, and the community’s influence on places they settled. At the end of the session, the audience is invited to participate in a Q+A session with the guest speakers.
