Mangaluru: Preparation for GP elections - BJP to hold two conventions in every district

Mangaluru, Nov 23: "Two conventions will be held by BJP in every district of the state as preparation for gram panchayat (GP) elections. One convention is organized for the limits of three to four legislative constituencies. Chiefs of BJP Shakti Kendra, Maha Shakti Kendra and Mandala Samiti will take part in this," said BJP state unit president Nalin Kumar Kateel.

Nalin further said, "Six teams including ministers and senior leaders of the party is formed to tour the districts from November 27 to December 3. The team having deputy chief minister Dr Ashwathnarayan, MP Shobha Karandlaje and district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary will start its tour from Udupi district.

"In the district of Dakshina Kannada one convention will be held in Bantwal for constituencies of Mangaluru North, Mangaluru, Moodbidri and Bantwal. Convention for Sullia, Puttur and Beltangady constituencies will be held at Uppinangady. Dates will be finalized soon. Only 400 people can participate in one convention due to Covid restrictions.

"Kutumba Milana programme is organized in every panchayat level with regards to preparation for gram panchayat elections. This is completed in around 60% of panchayats. In every panchayat, five member team called 'Pancharatna' is formed that includes a booth level officer and representatives of SC, ST, women and BCM castes. This team is already formed in nearly 70% of the panchayats. Page Pramukhs are also active. One Page Pramukh is given the responsibility of 30 voters."
