Kundapur, Nov 23: House warming of a house donated to Santhu Ajji here, with help from donors and the government was held on Monday. Constituency MLA, B M Sukumar Shetty lit the lamp in the house. He felicitated Santhu Ajji.

The lady, Santhu Bai, who belongs to the Kudubi community, has been living in such a wretched shed at Kovinagudde near Mavinakodlu in a hamlet named Kullunje near Shankaranarayana. She lives here with her daughter, a granddaughter, and a son. Cattle cared for by Santhu Bai too, have been living with her. But the way the three women live there is sure to shake the conscience of even people with merciless hearts.

Member of taluk panchayat, who had shouldered the responsibility of constructing the house, said Rs 2,54,000 was received as donations by media publicity. Sadashiva Shetty, the then president of Shankernarayana gram panchayat got the house approved and released Rs 90,000. The local MLA also has cooperated. "Guests are also bringing household items," he said.

District panchayat member, Rohith Kumar Shetty, BJP leaders Dr Sachidananda Vaidya and Prasad Shetty were present. Raghavendra Shetty compered the programme.
