Mangaluru: Readers Jerome, Mary Pinto unveil ARSO annual issue

Mangaluru, Dec 22: Senior citizens Jerome Pinto and Mary Pinto released the annual issue of ARSO Konkani monthly, on Tuesday December 22 at ‘Glendale’, Simon lane.

Jerome Pinto and Mary Pinto, are the subscribers and regular readers of ARSO Konkani monthly.

Unveiling the copy of the magazine, Jerome Pinto said, “From the past many years, I am a regular reader of ARSO. Reading the magazine takes me to a different world. Each article of this magazine contains revolutionary thinking along with scientific thoughts and good literature. A group of young writers behind this magazine always think about our society and raise their voice against injustice and evil practices which prevail in the society. I am thankful to the ARSO team for selecting me to release the annual issue. This shows their approach and connection towards the readers. I wish them all success in the coming years and expecting more and more valuable literature from them.”

Speaking on the occasion, Wilson Kateel, editor of the magazine said, “Every year, we release our annual issue with a programme where our well-wishers, writers and sponsors take part. But this time, we made a change in our concept and planned to move to our readers. So on behalf of the entire subscribers and readers, we selected Jerome Pinto. We are thankful to him for accepting our request to unveil the annual issue.”

About ARSO

Started as a fortnightly in the year 2013 by H M Pernal, ARSO has been published as a monthly since the last three years under the editorship of famed poet and lyricist Wilson Kateel. Youth writer Melwyn Kolalgiri serves as sub editor and senior artiste and dramatist Eddie Sequeira looks after the designing and layout section. Konkani serial director of repute Stany Bela, critique H M Pernal and Alphonse Pangla are editorial board members.

Every year ARSO brings out special editions on focused issues and this year ARSO has focused on Indian and Western literature. This year's edition is dedicated to youth poets’ mostly first timers.

Senior and award winning writers like Clarence Kaikamba, G W Carlo, Panchu Bantwal, Felcy Lobo, Jo Cy Siddakatte, Roshu, Bajpe contributed original and translated short stories and Vitty Bangalore and Wilma Bantwal have penned special essays on poets like Varavara Rao and Jacintha Kerkatta.

The edition has special articles by celebrated writers like poet Melvyn Rodrigues, Ron Roche Cascia, H M Pernal, Florine Roche, Diana Sharrel Lobo, Pramod Hospet, Kiran Nirkan, Pramod Hospet, Tony Ferrose, Sandeep D'Souza, Mukamar, Alwy Pernal and others.
