Bengaluru: JD(S) leaders sound dissenting notes - organizational plans face peril

Bengaluru, Jan 8: At the meeting held to strengthen the organizational network of the JD(S) on Thursday January 7, party leaders sounded a warning to the top leadership of the party. A few leaders expressed their reservations at the decision to have truck with the BJP while MLAs, Gubbi Srinivas and G T Devegowda, dropped broad hints to caution that they might walk out of the party at any time.

For the JD(S) which hoped to pool together its ranks and strengthen its position to face assembly election in 2023, this was a jolt.

In the presence of top leadership of the party, senior leader, Shivalinge Gowda, said that MLC, Basavaraj Horatti's statement that the party will form an understanding with the BJP, has given the wrong signal. He wanted to know why the leaders are hell bent on making Horatti the legislative council chairman.

Before the meeting, Gubbi MLA, S R Srinivas, said that he doesn't want to be a stooge of somebody. But his presence at the meeting surprised many. Former minister and MLA, G T Devegowda, said that he would welcome if the party begins its expulsion drive from Mysuru, indicating that he is ready to leave the party.
