Puttur: Boy Washed Away in River

Puttur, Sep 8: Roopesh Kumar (12), a sixth standard student of Sri Ramakunjeshwara Sanskrit Higher Primary School in Ramakunja near Kadaba in the taluk, drowned in River Kumaradhara on Monday.

The boy, who was the son of V Anand Gowda from Veeramangala in Shantigodu village, used to stay in the house of Balakrishna from Sampyadi, his uncle.  A local saw him washing his hands in the river at Parangaje in Koila village, and then raising an alarm. He said that the boy was washed away in the strong currents, before he could help the drowning boy.

On Tuesday, the locals undertook extensive search for the boy, with the help of policemen, till evening. However, the boy could not be found. A complaint with the Kadaba police station was filed on Tuesday.
