Hassan: ‘Central Ministers Shielding Dharam Singh’ – Yeddyurappa

Daijiworld Media Network – Hassan (SP)

Hassan, Sep 8: State Chief Minister, B S Yeddyurappa, alleged that some union ministers had played a role in ammending the recommendations of the Lokayukta by the state Governor relating to former Chief Minister, Dharam Singh.

“The Lokayukta had recommended for the recovery of Rs 26 crore from Dharam Singh, relating to the illegal mining licences issued by him when he was heading the government. However, the Governor dropped this recommendation because of the intervention of some Congress union ministers,” Yeddyurappa claimed.

Speaking at Arasikere in the district on Tuesday September 7, he said the Lokayukta, after conducting a detailed investigation, had found that Dharam Singh had permitted mining in the agricultural fields of farmers. He accused the Congressmen, who are going overboard with allegations of illegal mining, of forgetting to mention Dharam Singh’s involvement with illegal mining. “The Congressmen have lost the moral right to speak about illegal mining,” he felt.

Yeddyurappa also claimed that the measures undertaken by his government to stop illegal mining, have come in for lavish appreciation by the union minister for mining. He said that the Congress MPs were missing when the discussion on this topic was taken up in the Lok Sabha, as they have no genuine concern about this issue.
