Moodbidri, Jul 29: Alankar Textiles, a renowned cloth shop here, witnessed a daring robbery.

A group of 4 people arrived in a car, earlier this week in the evening. An elderly lady entered the shop enquiring about a bag. After observing in and around the shop, she reportedly gave a signal to another person.

After that, a well dressed elderly guy came near the cash counter, asking for new Indian currency notes as he has only dollars. The shop owner, Herman Rodrigues, felt pity at the elderly people and was ready to help them.

As soon as they left, the shop owner came to know that they had stolen around Rs 45000 cash. He ran outside to catch them, but in vain. The complaint has been filed at Moodbidri police station and the CCTV details have been handed over. The police informed that similar modus operandi have been reported from nearby towns.

The shop owner informed that alleged thief is like a magician in looting the cash. The general public and business community has to be alert.
