Kundapur, Aug 2: Water inundated many houses at Shiroor Bydnoor Kaluhitlu Kalmakkai area which is at the border of Uttara Kannada and Dakshina Kannada districts due to the heavy rains that are lashing this part for the past two days.

The state highway is completely submerged in water in front of some of the schools. Vehicles cannot move at all due to the water logging condition on roads.

Many houses have lost road connectivity. Electricity supply is cut off as precaution. Holiday was declared earlier in the day for schools of Kundapur and Byndoor taluks.

More than 30 boats that were tied on the bank of river got washed away after their rope got snapped due to the force of water. Most of them are badly damaged.

Kundapur AC K Raju and tahsildar Kiran Gowraiah visited the spot. Fire service personnel, police force and locals are doing rescue work.
