Mangaluru, Oct 30: A memorial service to remember the deceased patients and donor/volunteer appreciation function was held on October 8 at Frad Saib Hall, Kulshekar.

Fr Charles Serrao, OCD, Superior of Infant Jesus Shrine welcomed the gathering. The loved ones of the dearly departed paid their respects to the deceased with a candle light vigil. Families of eye and body donors were also honoured on the occasion. In his presidential address, Fr Clifford Fernandes, parish priest, Holy Cross Church, Kulshekar highlighted the need for sacrifice and selfless service from every human being. Life becomes meaningful and worthy only due to a person’s contribution to humankind.

Aloysious DSilva, who had served as an Honorary Accounts Officer at Ave Maria for 13 years was honoured for his selfless service. Prof Rita Noronha paid tribute to the late prof. Clement D’Souza who had served on the Governing Council of Ave Maria.

Benefactors, Well-wishers and helping hands of Ave Maria were honoured with fruit saplings as a token of appreciation. A short cultural programme featuring folk dances and a skit were presented by Ave Maria staff. Veronica Pinto, proposed a vote of thanks. Programme was compeered by Bharathi Shevgoor and ended with a fellowship meal.
