Kannada Rajyotsava celebrated in Kundapur

Kundapur, Nov 1: “The language of Kundapur is melodious. Life is beautiful here. This life is not enough to live and speak this language,” said assistant commisssioner K Raju.

Raju spoke after hoisting the flag at the Gandhi Maidan of the city on account of Rajyotsava.

Raju further said, “Kannada, Karnataka is not limited to a language. It is not mere land. It is an emotional relation. With plains like gold, every green forests, Malnad having Western Ghats, Karnataka is like entrance door to the ocean. It is renowned for its history, traditions, culture, variety, style of language and uniqueness. It will not be exaggeration if one says that the name Karnataka is itself a power. This is a day on which we have to honour people who renamed Mysuru as Karnataka and worked in that direction. This Rajyotsava celebration is the contribution of hundreds of cultural, social and political thinkers including Aloor Venkataraya and Shivaram Karanth.

“It is a proud moment that the coastal region of the state, which has given further uniqueness to our state, is renowned at international level. This is the land of Kantara, which has explained forests, sea, Daiva, Gods, belief and adventures. This taluk is known in the state in various fields including the achievement of Gururaj Poojary in the recently concluded Commonwealth games.

“Through Yakshagana the language of Kundapur is made rich. Along with the pride on our language and land, we need to speeden up the steps towards development. Hardwork is required for the progress of language and life. Let this Rajyotsava bring newness and success like the dream of ‘Sarvodayavagali Sarvarali’ of Kuvempu.

DySP Srikant, chief officer of town municipality K Gopalkrishna Shetty, CEO of taluk panchayat Mahesh Kumar Holla, BEO Kanataraj C S, tahsildar Kiran G Gowraiah, president of town municipality Veena Bhaskar, vice president Sandeep, members and civic workers were present.

Attractive march past by students of various schools and the police was the highlight of the event.
