Bantwal, Nov 1: “A language cannot be preserved by force. It grows and gets preserved out of love over it,” said MLA Rajesh Naik.

He was speaking at the 67th Kannada Rajyotsava programme held by the taluk administration and national festivals celebrations committee at Bantwal administration saudha on Tuesday, November 1.

“Though people speaking Tulu, Konkani and Beary languages are more in the district, Kannada is growing because it is being spoken clearly with admiration,” he said.

Tahsildar Dr Smita Ramu hoisted the Karnataka flag and said that Karnataka is the land of art and sculptures.

Ramesh Melkar spoke about the Kannada language, its growth and preservation.

Bantwal Urban Development Authority president B Devadas Shetty and DySP Pratap Singh Thorat were present.

Taluk panchayat chief executive officer Rajanna welcomed. Block education officer Jnanesh proposed a vote of thanks. Veteran artist Manju Vitla compered the programme. The school children presented a cultural programme.
