Bantwal, Nov 1: The sports tournaments for primary and high schools in Bantwal under the aegis of Best English Medium School at Modankap Infant Jesus school ground were inaugurated by the Bantwal Education Trust president and former minister B Ramanath Rai. The flag of the tournament was hoisted by the school convener Dhanabhagya R Rai.

Parish priest Fr Valerian D’Souza set the tournament in motion. Best English medium school management officer Mahabala Alva, trust members Rashmi S Pooja, Suma M Alva and headmistress Sunita B T welcomed.

Bantwal block education officer Jnanesh, ECO Sujatha, Sudha, TPO Vishnu Narayan Hebbar, CRPs Nanda, Premalatha, Pradeep, Bantwal taluk physical education teachers Rathnavathi, nodal officer Shivaprasad Rai, vice president of district primary teachers' association Navin, headmasters of all the schools, Infant Jesus Church chief priest, Deepika High School headmaster declared the playground open for sports.

Deepika High School headmaster, Benjanapadav school headmaster, physical education teachers and organizers came in a procession from Raktheshwari temple till Madankap ground and set the tournament in motion.

Best English school student Harshit administered the oath. Teacher Sumana compered the programme. Teacher Sanmetha proposed a vote of thanks.
