Karkala: Rag picker dies due to electrocution, complaint filed

Karkala, Nov 1: A rag picker died due to electrocution here. The deceased, identified as Ramakrishna Naika (54) had gone to pick roadside junk as usual at about 5 am on November 1. A person known to him telephoned his son Dinesh Naika at about 7.15 saying that his father had fallen on the plastic bag of rag at Jodurasthe, Kukkundoor village in front of the flower shop belonging to Suresh.

Dinesh Naika who rushed to the spot found to his horror that an electric cable had snapped and was hanging on the ground. Ramakrishna Naika had died as he had come in contact with the live wire.

A police case in this connection is registered at Karkala town police station under UDR 48/2022 CRPC section 174.
