Mangaluru, Nov 23: Dr Norbert Lobo, associate professor of Economics and director of Humanities and Computer Applications at St Aloysius College passed away on October 20.

He had served as economics professor for more than three decades. Moreover he was a great academician who was very passionate about his subject. He had organized many national level seminars and workshops in Economics for the teachers, students and for the general public. He had also authored many books both for research scholars and for the students.

He had been praised by his own students that he was an excellent teacher, guide and understanding mentor and above all a good human being. His commitment to duty has been exemplary. He had created awareness among the students to choose the right course and thus to select the right career of their choice and passion. His career guidance talks attracted a large number of people.

He was a great leader himself. His leadership in AMUCT is praiseworthy. He had organised the AIFUCTO conference in Mangaluru and thus a small town of the coastal belt was brought to limelight through this Convention in 2013.

In this context, the management of St Aloysius College, staff association of St Aloysius College, Student Council, Association of Mangalore University College Teachers (AMUCT), Mangalore University Economics Association and the parish council of Bendore Church will pay a public homage to Dr Norbert Lobo on November 26 at 3 pm at St Aloysius College.

The organizers have requested the general public to take part in large numbers and to make this programme a great success.

It has also been decided to bring out a book to immortalize the memories all have cherished with him.
