Mangaluru: Cooker blast is failure of intelligence, home, police departments: A C Vinayaraj

Mangaluru, Nov 23: "The cooker bomb blast in the heart of the city is a failure on the part of the intelligence, home and police departments. Congress vehemently condemns this," said KPCC spokesperson A C Vinayaraj.

He was addressing a press meet at Congress Bhavan here on Wednesday, November 23.

"The accused of such a cruel act should be booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Amendment Act. The organisation behind it too should be booked. Dakshina Kannada is known for temple tourism and education. To bring a black mark to the district, miscreants have done this," he added.

"The home department has shown negligence with regard to the prime accused in the case. He is accused of writing provocative graffiti in the city. Moreover, he was booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Amendment Act. He came out after the high court granted him conditional bail since the police failed to submit a chargesheet on time", he said.

He also questioned why the police department had failed to call him to the station for inquiry once in a month. "Have they registered his activities in the book of Modus of Operandi, " he asked.

"After obtaining bail, he was absconding without attending court hearings. It was the duty of the government and police to track him after he hid. The government failed to track his movements. So, the state home minister should tender his resignation for the lapses," he demanded.
