Mangaluru, Dec 12: Holy Cross Church, Cordel, Kulshekar celebrated Frad Saib Day (the remembrance day of Fr Alexander Dubois, founder of Cordel Church, pompously on December 11.
The thanksgiving Holy Eucharist was presided over by Fr Walter D’Souza OCD who is from Cordel parish, presently serving at Mira Road, Mumbai. Fr Charles Serrao, and Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu concelebrated along with 8 other priests and deacons.
The holy Mass began in the Rosary Park, in which the main celebrant preached a meaningful homily on the importance of Gaudete Sunday (Joyful Sunday) with reference to Frad Saib, the founder of Cordel parish who brought and spread this joy of Christ in Cordel. He called the devotees of Frad Saib popularly known as 'Kullerda Ajjer' to experience Christ and feel his love as Frad Saib did.
The Mass was followed by an impressive Eucharistic procession despite of drizzling, which ended with the benediction, later a sumptuous dinner prepared by parishioners served to all the devotees. Frederick D’Souza of Merlapadav was felicitated for specially preparing the paddy field to donate new crop to many parishes during Monthi Fest. The parish priest Fr Clifford Fernandes rendered the vote of thanks.
