Udupi, March 6: Udupi district department of public instruction has allowed a special holiday on Tuesday, March 7 for schools that come within the limits of Udupi where Holi full moon is celebrated.

Members of the Marathi community celebrate the festivals in some places of Udupi. There were setbacks for the celebrations as the government holiday was not declared for Holi.

Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat had written a letter to the deputy commissioner in this connection upon requests from Marathi and Kudumbi community members. The department of public instruction has considered the request and permitted a holiday for the Holi festival.
