Mangaluru: International Women’s Day Celebration held at Jeevandhara Kulshekar

Mangaluru, Mar 9: Jeevandhara Social Service Trust celebrated International Women’s Day on March 9 at Sacred Heart’s Primary School Hall, Kulshekar. Dr Lavina Dmell, the principal of Srinivas College of MSW, Mangaluru was the chief guest. Sr Anna Maria BS, the secretary of Jeevandhara Social Service Trust ®, Mangaluru was the president. Sathish Maben DRP, PMFME, DIC Yeyyady, Mangaluru, Sr Sunitha Maria the warden of Infant Mary Hostel, Sr Ida Janet BS, the director of Jeevandhara Centre along with Tamilarasi from Sadhana SHG Kongoor were present on the dais.

Dr Lavina DMello conducted various activities and highlighted the theme of the International Women’s day - Digit ALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality. In her message she encouraged the women to be digitally literate and to apply modern technology in innovation of various business enterprises in adapting to modern lifestyle. She also spoke about etiquettes in public life.

Sathish Maben spoke about various government schemes available for Women to initiate business enterprises. He assured his total support to avail these schemes so that women gain economic empowerment. Sr Anna Maria BS in her presidential address encouraged the women to gain all levels of empowerment besides Economic Empowerment. She appreciated the women for participating in the celebration and actively involving themselves in various activities. Women performed dance and songs as part of cultural activity. There were around 100 Women from 11 self help groups, tailoring students and MSW students from Srinivas MSW College, Mangaluru who participated in the programme. Sr Herita Mathias BS conducted sport games. The winners were awarded on the occasion.

Bharathi and Vinutha the staff of Jeevandhara Centre presented the report of the yearly activities. Sr Ida Janet welcomed the day’s gathering. Bharathi proposed vote of thanks to all those who were present for the programme. Vinutha compeered the day’s programme. Meals were served on the occasion.
