Kundapur: Boat hits rock after technical snag – Six fishermen rescued

Kundapur, Mar 14: Sri Guru Sannidhi boat, which left from the fishing port of Gangolli on the night of March 11, developed technical snag as it reached one nautical mile from Gangolli estuarine and hit a rock.

Dayananda Ambiga who was on the boat informed the matter to owner Raghavendra of Koteshwara, who in turn conveyed the message to coastal police. With the help of Yaksheshwari Persiene boat and Chakramma tourist boat, fishermen Dayananda Ambiga, Manjunatha, Sridhara, Ganapati, Rama and Karuna were rescued.

The boat got filled with water and it reached shore near Belikeri. It was brought up from water with the help of cranes. The loss is estimated to be Rs 25 to 28 lac.
