Bengaluru, Mar 15: Congress opposition leader in the assembly Siddaramaiah has demanded dismissal of Maharashtra’s Eknath Shinde regime for violating the federal structure of the country by its move to implement Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Scheme in 865 villages inside Karnataka and also demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai for his government’s failure to protect the interests of the State.

Addressing a news conference, the former Congress Chief Minister slammed the Bommai-led BJP regime’s silence over Maharashtra’s interference in the State and termed the move as gross violation of India’s federal character.

Siddaramaiah urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to immediately intervene and restrain the Maharashtra Chief Minister before the situation goes out of hand.

The Congress leader also urged the Bommai regime not to shut down the Indira Canteens as it helps the poor, workers and students merely because of its name. “This is a direct assault on the poor and it will not be tolerated,’ he warned.

He also slammed Modi for repeatedly visiting Karnataka to boost the ruling BJP when he or the Home Minister Amit Shah failed to visit the State when it was reeling under floods and droughts or during the Covid pandemic.

Siddaramaiah said the Lokayukta police arrest of BJP Channagiri MLA Virupakshappa Madal’s son Prashant over being caught red-handed while accepting Rs 40 lakh bribe and seizure of over Rs 8 crore cash from their residences proves that Bommai government is not just 40% but even more commission looting government.

He also attacked Prime Minister Modi for not even asking for an explanation from the Bommai government over State Contractors Association’s complaint regarding 40% commission payments and wondered what is the meaning of ‘Na Khaavoonga, Na Khaane Dhoonga’.
