Udupi, Mar 15: “Journalists should be ready for the futuristic changes in the industry and prepare themselves for the same” said KP Rao, inventor of Nudi Kannada typing fonts and a computer scientist.

He was speaking at the invitation release ceremony of the Udupi district working journalists association’s silver jubilee celebrations.

Addressing the journalists of Udupi KP Rao said “63 years ago i was also working as editorial assistant along with few giants of the then media such as Bal Thackrey. I have been knowing about the internals of journalists. It is a pride that your association has completed 25 successful years. I have seen a few of the singular moments of the journalism and media field. Before journalists used to write down the reports by hand but we were the first ones to make it computerized. Today AI technology like chatgpt and others are becoming very popular. I feel like journalists might lose their jobs due to this development. Try to learn what may come up tomorrow and prepare to face it. Use computer intelligence for your work life. Let us also grow along with artificial intelligence”.

The inauguration of the silver jubilee celebrations of Udupi district working journalists association will be held on March 19 at Nutana Ravindra Mantapa in MGM College, Udupi. N Santhosh Hegde, retired Lokayukta of Karnataka along with other dignitaries will inaugurate the celebrations.

Senior journalist Ramachandra Padubidri was honored on the occasion.

Rajesh Shetty Alevoor, president Udupi district working journalists association Umesh Marpalli, treasurer Nazeer Polya, secretary Mohammed Shareef Karkala, convener silver jubilee committee Jayakar Suvarna, secretary silver jubilee committee Kiran Majanbail, state committee member were present on the occasion.
