Mangaluru, March 15: The historic decision of publishing the higher education textbooks in Kannada is being taken up, said Governor of Karnataka Thawar Chand Gehlot.
He was speaking after presiding over the 41st convocation of Mangalore University. The decision has been taken at a meeting of the chancellors of all the universities and experts in Bengaluru, he said.
Professor S C Sharma, director of NAAC said, "We should develop selfless initiative. We should have awareness of the outside world."
Mangalore University vice-chancellor Professor P Subrahmanya Yedapaditaya explained the achievements of the university and welcomed the guests.
Kishore Kumar C K and Professor Raju Krishna Chalannavar, university syndicate members, parishat members, deans, principals of various colleges and others were present. Professor Dr Dhananjay Kumble and Preethi Kirrhi D’ Souza compered the programme.
115 students were awarded Ph Ds and 55 students were awarded gold medals while 57 students were presented cash prizes.
The governor presented certificates to 71 rank holders. The examination results for the year 2021-22 were 82.72%.
