HDK discusses revival of Bhadravati Iron & Steel Company

New Delhi, Jun 11: Newly appointed Union Heavy Industries and Steel Minister H D Kumaraswamy held a discussion with officials on the revival of the Bhadravati Iron and Steel Company in Karnataka.

Kumaraswamy, who assumed charge of his new responsibility on Monday, held a meeting at the residence of former Prime Minister and JDS supremo H D Deve Gowda’s residence, and asked the officials to submit a comprehensive proposal on the opportunities and strategies during the discussion with the officials.

Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) Chairman Amarindu Prakash briefed the minister and requested that he should visit major steel centres in Bilai.

The JDS leader also explained his achievements in the industrial sector in the State during his tenure as State’s Chief Minister.

The department officials briefed the minister on the proposed establishment of the Steel Research Centre in Bengaluru.

Kumaraswamy was briefed by the officials on the Centre’s concept of the strategy on “Compete with China.”

The minister said his goal was for the development of all States in order to achieve the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s concept of Vikshit Bharat and also on Make in India to ensure increase in production and creation of jobs to make the country the third largest economic power.

Kumaraswamy asked the officials to come out with proposals for reviving industries which have potential for growth as it would help in wasting resources.

Steel Ministry Additional Secretary Sukriti Likhi, Joint Secretary Vinod Kumar Tripathi, Financial Adviser Ashwini Kumar and Deputy Secretary Subhash Kumar participated in the meeting.
