Mangalore, Nov 4:
The attack on St Alphonsa Catholic Church near Kankanady on Thursday November 3 night has been condemned by former minister B Janardhan Poojary.

He visited the church on Friday November 4 and told reporters that the incident points at a bad intention to hurt the sentiments of people. Showing disrespect to  god of any community is a condemnable act, he said, and urged the government to put pressure on the police department to speed up the investigation and find out who was behind this unfortunate act.

"Showing disrespect to other communities is against the norms of civil society. This would create unwanted fear among people. There are some crooked people waiting for curfew to be placed in city," he said.

The person arrested for the vandalism at the Church should not be given bail, he urged. He rued over the state government's inaction on Somshekar Commission Report and said that if it had been accepted these kind of incidents would not have repeated. He also urged the police commissioner to act without bending to any political other pressure and added that police should make sure that no temples, churches and mosques are attacked by any anti-social elements in the future.

Bishop of Belthangady Fr Lorens Mukkuji who was also present condemned the incident.

Earlier, speaking to daijiworld, police commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh said that investigation into the incident is on and as of now nothing could be revealed until the true picture emerges.

    Dear,
    Dinesh Poojary, Kundapura/Bengaluru,
You can not just talk unless you have evidence.Chtistianity is a way of life. If someone wants to accept it out of their free will You can not stop them. Paying crores to temples and mutts is infact a forceful prevention of change in way of life.
