Faculty Development Programme held at St Aloysius International School, Harihar

Davanagere, Oct 11: A Faculty Development Programme (FDP) was organized to enhance the teaching skills and professional development of school teachers. The programme aimed to equip teachers with effective teaching methodologies, update their subject knowledge, and foster collaboration among educators.

The first day session began with the prayers which was led by the vice principal of the school Sr Shanthi David FSI, the introduction of the resource person was done by principal of the school, Fr Vinod AJ, SJ.

The academic advisor Grace Noronha and the resource person, Dr Lydia Fernandes AC, had graced this occasion.
Dr (Sr) Lydia Fernandes presented the sessions.

Objectives of the two-day faculty development programme are as follows:

Day 1: (9th October 2024)

1. Die Empty

Inspirations to die empty: Not to live for oneself but for others. To avoid stagnancy and mediocrity, that one needs to take a stand and to live with a sense of purpose.

2. Professionalism and quality enhancement among teachers.

3. Process of Human Development

* Stages and Psychosocial Development.
* ASK - Attitude, Skills and Knowledge
* Eight steps to Attitude Change
* Modelling

Group reflection: In the afternoon session, group reflections about any 2 topics were discussed to enhance the learning.

Also teachers were asked to find out one quality/gift in each of the group members, and share it aloud in the group to answer,

In what way the teachers can use them for a school occasion to grow in staff strategy?

All the teachers participated in this group discussion.

All the Sessions were very informative and enriching for the teachers.

Day 2: (9th October 2024)

1. Classroom research

* Types of Research
* Scope of Action Research
* Steps of Action Research

2. What is Service Learning?

* Process of Service Learning
* Why Service Learning?
* Key Elements
* Stages of Service Learning.
* Steps in Service Learning.

3. Why value education?

* Human reproach to value education.

Sessions concluded at 3:30pm by commendation of the resource person by the vice principal for her motivational and inspiring sessions with insights helping teachers to enhance the role of a teacher to Die Empty is a Contribute to the world, understanding the importance of holistic Development in every teacher and many more.

Overall the two days of FDP Sessions by the resource person Sr Dr Lydia Fernandes, AC was effective, beneficial and admirable.

All the members of school staff actively participated.
